Assembling medical equipment

VDL is an international, industrial company with different companies spread all over the world. They develop, produce and sell for example machine parts, busses and also medical equipment. In this Job Discovery students learn about the production of a medical device.

In the Job Discovery the students build a medical device. For this device the frame has to be made from metal and the metal needs to be cut using a laser. After cutting the metal, the metal parts need to be cleaned. For the cleaning of the parts an UV lamp is used.

Working in a cleanroom

After cleaning the parts, the product needs to be assembled in a cleanroom. While working in a cleanroom hygiene is very important and the student needs to wear protective clothes to enter the room. After entering the cleanroom, the metals that have been cut and cleaned, are going to be assembled together with other parts. The endproduct is a medical device used in hospitals.
